FSBO - Selling your home without a Realtor

Ok! What's the catch? Why is a Realtor helping "For Sale By Owner's"?

Selling by yourself? Some sellers feel like they can save money doing it themselves...and sometimes they can.

This is a good market and you have a good chance of getting an offer. Keep in mind, however, that most buyers, while they initially look on their own, end up contracting with a Realtor to help them at some point. This means you still have to pay commission to agents bringing a buyer.  There legitimate arguments for listing with a Realtor AND selling by owner and if you are not sure whether to list or you question the value of a Realtor then I would recommend you try selling on your own! You may get your home sold but at the very least you will gain a better understanding what it takes to sell your home.

If you are selling on your own so please look at the resources I have provided for you  want you to have the tools you need to do it right.  Included are things to consider when selling by owner, things to watch out for, where to advertise, and lenders and title companies to help you take the sale to closing. If you want some market data on recent sales, use the form on my website and I will email or fax you 4 recent sales in your area.  I will also be happy to answer any questions you may have about the home-selling process — just give me a call at the number above.

If you eventually decide to hire a Realtor, I would appreciate the opportunity to meet with you.  I have earned a reputation as one of the area’s top agents because of my professionalism and knowledge of the Real Estate industry.  I have 12 years of experience as a Realtor and possess degrees in Sales, Marketing, and Business Administration, and have had University training in Real Estate and contract law. I also have experience as a home inspector, contractor and builder.

Tell me what it will take to earn your business! Please feel free to give me a call, whether you have questions about selling yourself or about my services as a Realtor.

Statistics from the National Association of Realtors, show that sellers end up netting less from their sale by doing it themselves. Without the influence of a third party, the current comparable information and negotiation skills, you may come out behind. A poor agent can be just as bad or worse, so choose carefully.

If you do decide to use a Realtor just make sure you don't just pick anyone! There is a HUGE difference between agents... Even within the same company or office! DO NOT SETTLE! Anyone with a car can show houses, but only experience and training give you the skills to negotiate one of the largest & most important purchases to be made.

Be aware the minute you put a sign in your yard there will be many agents are contacting you, giving you all sorts of reasons why selling by yourself is a bad idea and why you must use them as your agent. Stick to your guns and don’t buy into it!  Give it a try... There is nothing wrong with selling yourself, by owner.

Adding to the confusion will be a multitude of “pseudo Real Estate” companies offering “By Owner” services and discount MLS listings. Remember, besides their fee you still have to pay commission to agents bringing buyer. There are a number of tactics they use to get your business, so research them carefully and run the numbers.
